In a significant development, the cryptocurrency that was seized in cybercrime instant loan app cases was converted into Indian currency of ₹48 lakh by the city police and distributed to the victims, on Tuesday (August 12, 2025).

Police Commissioner Shankabratha Bagchi handed over the cheques to the victims. He said of the 295 loan app case victims in the city, 100 had lost very huge amounts.

Following legal procedures, the police converted cryptocurrency to Indian currency and the amount was distributed to the victims.
