At least four persons were injured in Nuh on Tuesday when violence broke out between two religious communities over the parking of a car outside a shop. A motorcycle and a kiosk were set afire allegedly by the mob.
Superintendent of Police, Nuh, Rajesh Kumar told The Hindu over phone that the police had swung into action to bring the situation under control and three persons were detained in this connection.
A minor altercation between a shopkeeper and a young man, who had parked his car outside his shop, in Mundaka village on Haryana-Rajasthan border around 4.30 p.m. turned violent after youths from both the communities got involved and a scuffle broke out, police said.
Threw stones, bottles
It spread further with local residents from both the communities in the village got embroiled in the ensuing violence. The locals pelted stone and hurled glass bottles from the rooftops, causing injuries and disrupting the traffic, according to the local media.
“As soon as the information was received, a team from the local police station and the in-charge reached the spot. The police took charge and controlled the situation. After the fight, there was a slight obstruction in the traffic, which the police handled,” said a press statement by the Nuh police.
Mr. Kumar told journalists that two police companies were deployed in the village to maintain law and order. He said a case would be registered based on the complaint of those having sustained injuries.
Making an appeal to the locals to not spread the rumours, he said, the situation is under control, but the police were keeping a close watch.
