As part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ (Drug-Free India Campaign), the Sarada Vilas College of Pharmacy conducted an awareness rally in the city on Tuesday.
It was held in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The rally was inaugurated by Narasimha, secretary of the Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions. Hanumantachar Joshi, principal of the Sharada Vilas College of Pharmacy, said that the fight against drugs is not merely an issue of law, but was the responsibility of every member of the society.
Mr. Joshi said that law enforcement agencies have received serious information about the illegal manufacture and sale of narcotics in Mysuru city and surrounding areas, and expressed concern that substance abuse among students had risen to alarming levels in recent times.
He said that this situation poses a grave threat to the health and future of the youth as well as to the progress of society, and called upon the youngsters to stay away from narcotics and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Students, faculty, and staff of the college raised public awareness against the illegal manufacture and use of narcotics through placards, slogans, and messages. Hundreds of pharmacy students and teachers participated in the event.
Mahesh, principal of the Law College, Virupaksha Gowda from Presidency University, Bengaluru, and others were present.
