The Group of Ministers (GoM) constituted by the Andhra Pradesh government to review changes to district, mandal, and village names and boundaries will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, August 13, Revenue, Registration & Stamps Minister Anagani Satya Prasad has announced.

Apart from Mr. Satya Prasad, the GoM comprises Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Roads & Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy, Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, and Medical & Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav.

On Monday, Mr. Satya Prasad invited the public and public representatives to personally submit their representations on proposed changes during the meeting at the Secretariat. He said that repeated appeals from citizens and elected representatives had prompted the coalition government to form the GoM to study the matter and recommend solutions. The Minister criticised the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government’s district reorganisation exercise, alleging it was carried out haphazardly without following proper guidelines. This, he said, had left people in some districts struggling to travel long distances to reach district headquarters for official work, while the naming of newly created districts had also triggered disputes.
