Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) president M.H. Jawahirullah on Saturday said Tamil Nadu stood as a model for India by formulating a State-level education policy.

In a statement, he welcomed the announcement that the two-language policy would continue in the State, along with the provision for linguistic minorities to learn their mother tongue and doing away with the board examination for Class XI.

He also urged the State government to ensure that schools don’t teach Class XII syllabus to Class XI students.

He expressed concern against establishing model schools in every district, which according to him will not provide equal learning opportunities for students from different socio-economic backgrounds.
