The city police have arrested seven persons, including an engineering student from Kerala, for their alleged involvement in drug peddling. They were accused of selling cannabis to college students and other people.
The accused were identified as Abdul Samad, Dharmalinga of Kurnad village, Daulat Kumar Sharma and Mohammed Kushalam, both from Bihar, Karthik, Mohith, and K.V. Pranav, an engineering student hailing from Mallapuram in Kerala.
The action was taken by the Mangaluru North, Mulky, Bajpe, Kankanady, and Mangaluru East police stations. The police seized 5.219 kg of cannabis from the accused.
In a statement, the police said they have found the source from where the accused procured the cannabis. They have information about the buyers who purchased cannabis from the accused. Special teams have been formed to track them, the police said.
