Home Minister V. Anitha on Saturday distributed cheques of ₹10 lakh each to the families of the three persons who died in the alleged LPG cylinder explosion at a welding shop near the fishing harbour in One Town on August 7. She was accompanied by District Collector Harendhira Prasad and Visakhapatnam South MLA Vamsikrishna Srinivas.

The Minister visited the homes of the victims’ kin, handed over the cheques, and listened to the challenges being faced by the families. She assured them that the government would extend all possible assistance.

Speaking to the media later, Ms. Anitha said the authorities had responded swiftly to the incident and provided advanced medical care to the injured. She reiterated that an investigation into the cause of the explosion is under way.
