A 42-year-old man died in an accident in Salem on Thursday (August 7, 2025).
The deceased has been identified as A. Dravid, a resident of Mandaveli near Attur, who was working at a meat shop in the locality. On Thursday morning, he headed to work on his two-wheeler. While he reached Attur Government Hospital, a government bus headed to Attur from Chidambaram hit his vehicle. In the accident, he sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. The Attur Town police registered a case and are investigating further.
In another incident, P. Kirthika (8), a class III student and resident of Siddar Kovil, was hit by a two-wheeler on Monday (August 4, 2025) while she was walking in the locality. She sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to Salem Government Hospital. But on Thursday, she succumbed to injuries. The Steel Plant police registered a case and are investigating further.
