BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan, on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), said the DMK government in Tamil Nadu should release a White Paper on the investments secured by the State in the last four years of its regime.
In a statement, Mr. Murugan said: “Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had recently claimed southern Tamil Nadu has been witnessing unprecedented industrial growth under the DMK rule. However, this development was due to various infrastructure projects implemented by the Union government, including the expansion of Thoothukudi airport, upgradation of Thoothukudi port, the construction of national highways for freight transport and new railway projects for cargo movement,” he said.
Mr. Murugan alleged the Tamil Nadu government has been pasting its own label on Union government projects. “Over the past four years, the Chief Minister has conducted numerous investors’ meetings and conferences. But what has Tamil Nadu actually gained from all these? During his overseas trips, Mr. Stalin signed six MoUs in Dubai, 19 in the U.S., three in Spain, and six each in Singapore and Japan. But to date, the DMK government has not provided any updates on the status of these MoUs,” he said.
According to Mr. Murugan, the Chief Minister’s foreign trips to attract investments have not yielded positive results. He said Tamil Nadu has been a manufacturing hub since the era of former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj. The State’s industrial success was not due to the DMK government, but due to the Centre’s economic policies, the global recognition for India and the skill of Tamil Nadu’s workforce, he added.
