A man, earlier arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, was sentenced to undergo 25 years of rigorous imprisonment by the Nampally court on Monday (August 4). The court also slapped a fine of ₹5,000 on the accused, and awarded a compensation of ₹5 lakh to the victim girl.
The accused, identified as Kamalakar Shiva Kumar, 19, a private employee from Namalagundu, Secunderabad, was arrested by the Chilkalguda police in 2020 following a complaint by the victim’s parents.
A case was registered against him under multiple sections, including Section 376DA (gang rape), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the e Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 66E of the IT Act (violation of privacy), and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
