The Tiruppur District Police have arrested six more persons for alleged involvement in the murder of lawyer L. Muruganantham, 41, who had been practising in the Madras High Court.

The police said that Balamurugan, 44, Sathish Kumar, 44, Sasikumar, 33, Sudarsan, 40, Annadurai, 36, Muruganantham, 50, of Namakkal were arrested on Sunday (August 3, 2025). With this, the total number of accused arrested in the case increased to 12.

A resident of Muthu Nagar at Kottapulipalayam road at Dharapuram, Muruganantham was hacked to death by a group of men when he visited his property at Dharapuram on July 28.

While five accused surrendered before the Dharapuram police on July 28, the police arrested the lawyer’s relative R. Dhandapani, 65, who runs Thenmalar School, for alleged involvement in the murder. The six accused were arrested on Sunday based on the statement of the six others, the police said.
