A 47-year-old man and his daughter were killed in a road accident after the two-wheeler they were travelling hit another two-wheeler on Banavaram – Kaveripakkam Main Road near Walajah town in Ranipet on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as S. Babu, 47, a native of Banavaram, and B. Pachaiammal, 7. Babu was living with his wife and three daughters in the village and was working as a mason.

Initial inquiry revealed that along with his three daughters, including B. Dhansika, 10 and B. Supriya, 8, Babu was riding his two-wheeler to his farmland on the stretch when he suddenly noticed a two-wheeler, which was coming in the opposite direction on the stretch, and hit the vehicle.

In the impact, Babu and his daughters were thrown away from the vehicle. Both died on the spot whereas others including K. Pandian, 25 and G. Aravind, 28, who came in the other two-wheeler, were injured.

Immediately, other motorists and passersby alerted Kaveripakkam police and ambulances. Injured persons were shifted to government hospital.The bodies were shifted to Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore for postmortem. A case was registered. A probe is underway.
