The Trichy Intellectual Property Enforcement Unit of the Tamil Nadu Police have seized counterfeit iPhone accessories with a market value of ₹1.24 lakh from five persons and arrested them. The action was taken based on a complaint to the Trichy Intellectual Property Enforcement Unit Inspector regarding sale of these accessories under the leading brand name of iPhone.

The complaint was lodged by R. Kumaravel, Investigation Officer, Griffin Intellectual Property Services Pvt Ltd., a private company that monitors and reports on the sale of counterfeit products of leading brands in the market. 

The police team conducted raids at Pattukottai and Thanjavur areas where it was found that B. Raju Ram, B. Nain Singh, R. Ashok Kumar, S. Jothivel, and R. Kishore Kumar from Thanjavur were buying and selling counterfeit iPhone accessories from Mumbai. These accessories were seized and five cases registered. Investigation was under way, a police press release said.
