Prompt action by a team of doctors at Jeeva Super Specialty Hospital saved the life of a 35-year-old woman who was bitten by a poisonous snake.
Gaddemma, a native of Maddaraki village in Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district, was bitten by the snake five days ago while she was sleeping in her house. She woke up upon feeling a stinging bite sensation and on searching what could be the cause of it, the family found a snake in the room.
Initially, she was taken to the Taluk Hospital at Shahapur and then, rushed to Jeeva Hospital in Kalaburagi.
Managing directors at Jeevaa Hospital Sushil Guttedar and Ajay Guttedar said that the patient arrived at the hospital in a critical condition. She was presented with rapid heartbeat, laboured breathing and low blood pressure, they said.
A team of doctors, led by Himayat Ullah Khan and intensivist Veeresh, attended to the patient and gave her an anti-venom injection to neutralise the effects of the snake’s poison.
The patient is recovering well, they added.
