The Puducherry Government has constituted a committee headed by Public Works Department (PWD) Minister K. Lakshminarayanan to hold talks with employees of Hidesign’s leather factory at Odhiampet near Villianur.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, PWD Minister K. Lakshminarayanan, Leader of Opposition R. Siva and the management and employees of Hidesign.

The employees of the leather factory went on strike demanding an increase in wages, bonus, transport and dearness allowance, among others. Leader of Opposition R. Siva held talks with the striking workers, following which they agreed to return to work.

Official sources said the committee will hold talks with the management and employees of the leather factory on the demands.
