The tribal residents of Donkada village in Golugonda mandal, Narsipatnam division of Anakapalli district, staged a protest at the Narsipatnam Sub-Collector’s office on Wednesday, demanding swift forest clearances and completion of long-pending road projects.

The protest organised under the banner of AP Adivasi Girijan Sangham, highlighted the delay in executing a road project to Donkada village sanctioned in 2023 with an allocation of ₹ 1.60 crore. Sangam leaders alleged that the Panchayat Raj (Projects) did not take up the work, citing they had not received forest clearances and proceedings of the Collector. The protestors also said that they had submitted a plea in the Narsipatnam Sub-Collector’s Office, six years ago seeking cancellation of pattas issued by the former Sarpanch at Panasalapadu village of Rolugunta mandal, which remain unaddressed till date.

Additionally, they pointed out that the Arla–Pithrigedda road project, which was taken up at an estimated cost of ₹4.10 crore, was stopped midway. Similarly, the YB Patnam-Losingi via Pedagaruvu road, taken up at a cost of ₹2.60 crore, remained incomplete as the culverts were not constructed.

The Adivasi sangham leaders said that due to lack of roads pregnant tribal women were forced to deliver along the roadsides, while being carried in dolis to hospitals.
