Ramanathapuram district police seized a container lorry with about 75 bags of beedi leaves weighing about 30 kg near Vellari odai seashore here on Tuesday morning.  

Police said, when the beedi leave bags from the lorry were being unloaded in the boat to be transported to Sri Lanka, police intercepted them.  

The alerted people on the boat drove the boat away with about 10 bags. 

The remaining bags in the lorry were seized and B. Balakrishnan, 35, of Vellari odai was arrested. 

Uchipuli police registered a case and further investigation is underway.
