Avadi City Police have arrested a gang of four burglars from West Bengal for striking at two places inside city limits. ₹30 lakh worth gold jewellery and ₹2.39 lakh in cash was recovered from them. 

On July 13, 2025, unidentified persons broke open the door of one, P. Ranjith, 44, in Pokkisham Nagar of Upparapalayam in Avadi Tank Factory police station limits and stole three sovereigns worth of gold. Similarly, another burglary was reported in Vishal Nagar, Upparapalayam, on July 20. The suspects broke the lock of a house belonging to M. Samuel and decamped with 38 sovereigns of gold and ₹2.5 lakh cash stolen from a steel bureau. 

Avadi Tank Factory police registered a case, and a special team of police led by Inspector Murugavel investigated the case. On investigation, they arrested two persons- Anugur Seik, 32, and Raju Seik, 34, both from West Bengal, who were working at a construction site in Vishal Nagar. On interrogation, police learnt that two more accomplices escaped with the booty to their native in West Bengal. 

Immediately, the special team of police went to West Bengal and nabbed two more suspects who have been identified as Helal S.K., 35, and Jaltan S.K., 37. They were brought to Chennai after obtaining a transit warrant from a local court in that State. Police recovered the jewellery and cash from them.
