Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said here on Monday that the colonial education system of the past was not ideal for the country.

Instead, the nation required an educational model based on its own ideals, he was quoted as saying in a release issued here. Mr. Bhagwat was delivering the keynote address at the conclusion of the four-day education conclave organised by the Shiksha Samskriti Utthan Nyas here.

He said that the nation could contribute towards peace and harmony in the world through the ideals of truth and compassion. Each individual has to work towards reforming society, he said. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Vice Chairman of University Grants Commission, presided.
