The district administration has issued a ban on bathing in River Cauvery at Hogenakkal following a sharp increase in inflow on Saturday(July 26, 2025).

The water level rose to 32,000 cusecs on Saturday evening, with Karnataka increasing its outflow from its reservoirs.

The inflow from River Cauvery flowing into Biligundulu reservoir in Krishnagiri was at 18,000 cusecs on Saturday morning. However, the water level increased sporadically first to 24,000 cusecs and to 28,000 cusecs in the afternoon, and finally crossed 32,000 cusecs by Saturday evening.

Karnataka had earlier announced the release of 44,000 cusecs from its reservoirs on Saturday morning. In its wake, the water level is anticipated to go up further by Sunday. Despite a sharp rise in the inflow, a delayed ban on bathing was issued late Saturday evening.
