Vizianagaram Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan on Saturday directed officials from the revenue, irrigation, health, and other departments to remain on high alert in view of the heavy rain forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In a press release, Mr. Madhavan stressed the importance of coordination among departments to effectively manage any eventualities during the current rainy season. He instructed the Fisheries Department not to permit fishermen to venture into the sea for the next couple of days, particularly in coastal areas such as Pusapatirega and Bhogapuram, where heavy rains are anticipated.
The Irrigation Department has been asked to submit water level data every two hours to the D-section of the Collectorate for close monitoring of inflows and outflows from major reservoirs, including Thatipudi and Madduvalasa.
Mr. Madhavan also directed all officials to remain available on Sunday and refrain from taking leave until normalcy is fully restored in the district.
