Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Hebbalkar has said that the contribution of KLE Society to the growth of Belagavi was immense, and as a result, Belagavi was shining on the world map.
Inaugurating the newly set up ‘Fertility Centre’ at KLE Society’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Belagavi on Friday (July 25, 2025), the minister said that KLE Society had become the backbone of around 20,000 families by ensuring their economic and social progress.
Lauding the leadership of former Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore, who heads the society, she said that, considering the need for medical infrastructure in the region, Mr. Kore established the KLE Hospital and brought all the facilities under a single roof. “Earlier, people of the region were forced to either go to Bengaluru or other bigger cities”, she said.
The minister said that the fertility centre was another feather in the cap of the hospital, through which it would be catering to the needs of couples without children. “Couples who have been deprived of children due to the adverse impact of modern lifestyle also have to face the social stigma. And to overcome it, the modern medical system has effective solutions”, she said, adding that there was also a need to create more awareness on the issue.
Chairman of KLE Society Prabhakar Kore said that they were marching ahead with the plan of establishing hospitals with 5,500 beds in the private sector and in a couple of months would be dedicating KLE Society’s medical college and hospital to the public in Hubballi.
“In Bengaluru, we are building a 200 bedded hospital spanning over a 7-acre land. A 90-year-old Ayurvedic Hospital is being upgraded in a bid to revive the traditional healthcare system. This apart Ayurvedic college and homeopathy colleges are being established in Chikkodi and Basavana Kudchi, respectively”, he said.
Mr. Kore said that as Maharashtra Government had extended necessary cooperation and encouragement to the society for establishing educational institutions, they would be shortly dedicating a school to the public at Palm Beach in Mumbai.
Mr. Kore also said that if the government gave the responsibility, then the society would maintain the BIMS Super Speciality Hospital very well.
Members of the management board of KLE Society, Vice Chancellor of KAHER Dr. Nitin Gangane, JNMC Principal Dr. N.S. Mahanthshetti, KLE Hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. M. Dayanand and others were present.
