Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa has said that sites have been identified for setting up SIPCOT’s Industrial Estate near Sankarankovil in Tenkasi district and the Neo Tidel Park in Kanniyakumari district.

During a brief informal chat with reporters before participating in the DMK’s IT Wing meeting held in Palayamkottai on Saturday (July 26, 2025), Mr. Rajaa said Tamil Nadu was witnessing an unprecedented surge in industrial investments, particularly in the southern region of the State. While Tenkasi is set to get SIPCOT’s first industrial park near Sankarankovil, the Neo Tidel Park is coming up in Kanniyakumari district to provide employment to several thousand skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled youth from these districts.

“Since Kanniyakumari does not have vast stretches of unused land, which are typically required for setting up large industries, the government has decided to establish a Neo Tidel Park in the district. We inspected the proposed site today,” Mr. Rajaa said.

Even as the Gangaikondan SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre was performing exceedingly well, new industrial estates were coming up in Nanguneri and Moolaikkaraipatti in Tirunelveli district, he noted.
