A case of filling the lake in the name of lake development under corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative was brought to light through intervention of the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday.
HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath issued directions asking the encroachers to remove the silt filled in the FTL of the Mushki Cheruvu along with the bund built into the FTL, and warned them of criminal cases in case they do not comply, a statement from the agency informed.
Local people approached HYDRAA complaining that the bund was built separating the lake’s upper region from the remaining portion. Investigations by HYDRAA revealed that the 50 acre lake was confined to 12 acres due to the bund. Mr. Ranganath convened a meeting with the real estate company Tattva Developers and the representatives of the NGO Dhruvansh and issued orders to clear the lake of the silt.
HYDRAA also issued another statement informing that 50 trucks of garbage was removed from mere 100 metres stretch of the Bulkapur Nala near Virat Nagar of Toli Chowki. Mr. Ranganath has issued orders for transportation of the silt immediately.
Mr.Ranganath also inspected the Padma Colony and surrounding areas where a nala retaining wall collapsed under the impact of recent rains, and issued instructions to take up the construction of the retaining wall immediately.
