Telangana Minister of Women and Child Welfare Dansari Anasuya (Seethakka) said as there is a risk of plaster falling in Anganwadi buildings—which get soaked in rain. Such buildings have to be identified and alternate arrangements have to be made.
The Minister, who also holds Panchayat Raj and Rural Development portfolio, on Friday (July 25, 2025) held a review meeting on cleanliness, enhancing green cover, drinking water and Panchayat Raj Engineering department. The 100-day action plan to improve nutrition level of children, services at Anganwadi centres and other aspects were discussed.
At the meeting, the Minister sounded caution as there is a risk of scorpions and centipedes making their way in night. Ms. Seethakka said that 1000 new Anganwadi buildings have to be inaugurated on November 19 – birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who launched Anganwadi services. Pending works have to be completed and the government is prepared to allot more funds if needed, the Minister said.
On the occasion, the Minister handed over appointment letters to 23 Child Development Project Officers (CDPO) who were selected by Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC). Their parents and other family members too were present on the occasion.
Impressing on them the crucial role CPDOs play, the Women and Child Welfare Minister explained to them measures taken to address nutrition deficiencies in children at Anganwadi centres, including egg biryani twice a week, milk and other food items.
Principal Secretary of Panchayat Raj department N. Sridhar, Secretary of Women and Child Welfare department Anita Ramachandran, commissioner G. Srijana, and other participated in the meeting.
