The Chennai Corporation Council on Wednesday passed a resolution to issue patta for residential buildings constructed 10 years ago in unobjectionable government poramboke lands in the city.
A few months ago, the State government had relaxed norms pertaining to regularisation of encroachments in unobjectionable poramboke lands in the localities within a radius of 32 km from the city. Owing to a ban on issuance of house site patta for government poromboke lands in revenue villages within 32 km radius of Chennai, thousands of residents could not establish land ownership.
According to the resolution, residents who have constructed their homes in lands classified as cart track, kalam and burial grounds will get patta after regularisation of the unobjectionable encroachments in areas such as Madhavaram, Puzhal, Mathur, Sadayankuppam, Kadapakkam, Korattur, Patravakkam, Ambattur, Koyambadu, Aminjikarai, Mambalam, Sholinganallur, Maduravoyal, Alandur,Virugambakkam, Saligramam, Injambakkam, Pallikaranai, Perungudi, Jalladianpet, Athipet, Nolambur, Valasaravakkam, Porur, Nerkundram, Ramapuram, Kottivakkam, Neelankarai, Okkiyam Thoraipakkam, Ullagaram, Saidapet, Padi, Mogappair, Mugalivakkam, Madanandapuram, Egmore, Nungambakkam and Palavakkam.
