As many as five cattle grazers, who were trapped in the swollen Munneru stream at Chinnamandava village in Chintakani mandal of Khammam district, were rescued by the NDRF personnel on Thursday evening.

Sources said that the five villagers had gone to the fields abutting the Munneru for cattle grazing in the afternoon when they got stranded due to sudden surge of water in the stream late in the afternoon.

Alerted by farmers working in the nearby agricultural fields, the officials reached the spot along with the NDRF team as per the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka over the phone.
