Two individuals transporting 8.6 kilograms of ganja on a two-wheeler were arrested by officials from the State Task Force (STF) team of the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department on Thursday, July 24.

The accused were identified as Anjani Dubey, a native of Bihar working as a security guard at a software company in Hyderabad, and Shankar Das from Malkangiri district in Odisha. The arrests were made at the RTO check post on Kunavaram Road in Bhadrachalam.

According to officials, Dubey was selling ganja to employees of the company where he worked, while Das supplied the contraband from Odisha.

Investigators revealed that the duo had been running the illegal operation for some time. Shankar Das would regularly travel from Malkangiri with ganja on a motorcycle, drop Dubey off in Hyderabad, collect his payment, and return.

Apart from the 8.6 kg of ganja, two mobile phones and the motorcycle used for transportation were seized. The arrested men and the seized items were handed over to the Bhadrachalam excise station for further investigation.
