Judicial Magistrate Court in Sriperumbudur convicted and sentenced 19 Bangladeshi nationals, including 10 women, to three-month imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,000 each for illegal entry into the country and illegally stay.

On April 28, Mangadu Police of Avadi City Police arrested 10 women and nine men from Bangladesh who were illegally staying in Sikkarayapuram. They were found not having any documents to enter and stay in the country. They were charged for illegal entry and illegal stay under the provisions of the Foreigners Act. They were remanded to judicial custody and lodged in Central Prison, Puzhal.

After filing the charge sheet, the trial was conducted before Judicial Magistrate Court in Sriperumbudur. At the conclusion of trial, the Magistrate J.M. Vignesh pronounced judgement. They were sentenced to three-month imprisonment besides imposing a fine of ₹1,000 each.

A senior police officer said once their prison term is over shortly, they will be sent to a special camp for foreigners and later they will be deported back to Bangladesh.
