Two people were killed and four others injured when a lorry ploughed into a bakery and stationery store at Kolala village in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Rangashamaiah, 65, and Bailappa, 65. The injured, Jayanna, Kantharaju, Mohan Kumar, and Siddagangamma, were being treated at the Tumakuru district hospital.

The victims are from the neighbouring village and visited the bakery and the stationery store when the lorry driver lost control and ploughed into the shops.

Owing to the impact, both the shops were damaged and many people standing around escaped narrowly. The lorry driver escaped soon after the accident.
