A 28-year-old man allegedly hacked his fiancée to death in Sriperumbudur, the police said.

The victim has been identified as Soundarya, 25. Both she and the suspect, Dinesh, were employed at the same private company in Sriperumbudur. The two had been in a relationship for the past year and got engaged eight months ago. They lived alone in separate houses within the same building.

According to the police, Dinesh frequently quarrelled with her, suspecting her of infidelity. On Saturday, during one such argument, he allegedly stabbed Soundarya with a knife and fled the scene. She died on the spot, the police said.

On being alerted about the crime, the police recovered her body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The police have launched a search for the suspect.
