The Greater Chennai Corporation has deployed around 100 conservancy workers to maintain cleanliness along the 2.4 km stretch of Marina Beach from Labour Statue to the Light House. Cleaning operations began on Monday with mechanised sweepers in use during the morning hours.

The workforce was split across two shifts —the first shift, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 70 workers and four cleaning machines are engaged in deep cleaning the sand areas. In the second shift, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., 30 workers were deployed to remove litter and maintain cleanliness through the evening hours.
