In a tragic road accident on Monday (July 21, 2025) near Kanamarlapudi village in Savalyapuram mandal, Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, four people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries when two auto-rickshaws collided head-on.

According to police sources, a passenger auto traveling at high speed from Vinukonda towards Sattenapalli, and carrying a load of papayas, crashed into another auto coming from Savalyapuram and heading towards Vinukonda. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the immediate death of three passengers.

A fourth victim, a woman, succumbed to her injuries while being treated at a hospital. Four other individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Vinukonda, including Jayati Hospital and the Government Hospital, for medical care.

The deceased have been identified as: Brahmayya Battula, 32, Anjamma Battula, 32, Nagamarthamma Battula, 40, and Muthyallamma Battula, 60, all hailing from Karumanchi village.

The driver of one of the autos, identified as Bitragunta Narasimharao,40, from Telagakandulavari Palem, was suspected of being accused in this accident, yet the police have to establish.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident, with overspeeding suspected to be a major factor. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the Karumanchi and surrounding villages, as the victims were all from the same extended family.
