K. Babu, MLA, has said that steps for acquiring land for the proposed SN Junction-Poothotta Road will get under way shortly.

He was delivering the inaugural address at a people’s convention organised by the Thripunithura Rajanagari Union of Residents’ Association (TRURA). Mr. Babu, however, said that since the funds allocated for the restoration of the Kaniyampuzha Road was inadequate, that work might get delayed.

He said that waterlogging on Kaniyampuzha Road could be resolved if the municipality gave permission to merge the drains built by it and by the Public Works department.

Mamala Bund Road

Anoop Jacob, MLA, said that the construction of the Mamala Bund Road would get under way shortly after removing the gas pipeline passing through the land for the project. Delivering the keynote address, he said that a project to the tune of ₹4 lakh would be initiated to install new boundary stones.

Thripunithura municipal chairperson Rema Santhosh promised to meet various demands raised at the convention, including the renovation of the Thannerchal Park and the opening of building complexes.

TRURA chairperson V.P. Prasad said that the convention marked the next phase of the protest even as he rued how the municipal residents were forced to take the protest path to get things done.

Resolutions passed at the convention were handed over to the MLAs and the municipal chairperson.
