The police on Sunday night (July 20, 2025) arrested a sixty-year-old man on charges of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old unmarried woman, threatening to kill her invalid father if she did not budge. The incident was reported from a village of Kallur panchayat of Pulicharla mandal.

According to Kallur police, the elderly man committed the crime against the woman a few months ago, when she was alone at home while her father was hospitalised. Later, he kept repeating the assault repeatedly, several times at knifepoint when she resisted.

Unable to suffer the continued trauma, the woman along with her father lodged a complaint with the police, leading the arrest of the accused. The police registered a criminal case against the accused and will produce him before the court on Monday (July 21, 2025.)
