A chance arrival of a patrolling team helped retrieve four boxes of liquor bottles that were being stealthily transported in a motorbike after breaking open a TASMAC shop in Aviyur in the small hours of Sunday.

The accused left the boxes as well as the motorbike on the spot and fled.

Aviyur police are investigating the incident.
