The Government Railway Police (GRP) seized nine kg of ganja from a Mangaluru-bound train at Coimbatore railway station late on Saturday. GRP personnel inspected Chennai Central – Mangalore Central West Coast Express (train no: 22637) between Tiruppur and Coimbatore railway stations on Saturday. As the train reached Coimbatore north railway station around 9.40 p.m., GRP personnel noticed a white bag that was left unattended in a suspicious manner in an unreserved coach. No passengers in the coach claimed ownership of the bag, following which the personnel opened it. They found nine kg of ganja concealed inside. The GRP has launched an investigation to trace the person, who attempted to smuggle the drug.
