R. Shiva Prasad assumed office as Superintendent of Police, Sivaganga district, on Sunday. 

A 2016-batch Indian Police Service officer, Mr. Prasad was hitherto SP of Theni district. He succeeds Ashish Rawat, who was posted as SP, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Headquarters, Chennai after being placed in the vacancy reserve following the custodial death of B. Ajith Kumar

Mr. Shiva Prasad started his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Virudhunagar Sub-division. Following the stint, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Madurai city, DCP Washermenpet, Chennai, DCP, Anna Nagar, Chennai and then SP in Madurai district.
