AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday said the DMK government had failed to fill up vacancies in various departments.
Addressing a roadshow at Keelvelur in Nagapattinam district, as part of his Makkalai Koppom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom journey, he said the DMK in its manifesto had stated that it would fill 5.5 lakh posts in various departments. But it had so far filled only 50,000 posts. About 20,000 government employees had retired three months ago in a month. In the last four months alone, 70,000 employees had retired from government services. It had piled up the vacancy positions. The number of vacancies had reached 5.75 lakh.
Mr. Palaniswami said the DMK Government had failed in all aspects of governance. Corruption had reached its peak. The people were fed up with the corrupt practices. The DMK had to be thrown out of power in the 2026 Assembly elections and the people would teach a fitting lesson to the ruling party.
The government had failed to control price rise. Essential commodities such as cereals, pulses and oil had skyrocketed. There was a mismatch between income and expenditure. They could not afford to buy essential commodities with their income. The people were suffering a lot. But the government had done nothing to check the rise in prices of essential commodities.
