Twelve passengers travelling in an omnibus were injured in a road accident at a junction near Madurantakam on Friday. Around 4.30 a.m., when an earth mover was waiting at the Ayyanar Kovil junction, the omnibus tried to overtake a speeding lorry. During the attempt, the omnibus grazed the earth mover and overturned after hitting the road median. The passengers who were stuck in the bus were evacuated quickly, with 12 of them sustaining injuries. The Madurantakam police arrived at the spot and removed the overturned bus using another earth mover. Traffic on the stretch was hit.
