Tourism Minister R. Rajendran said there was good response to Ungaludan Stalin scheme in Salem on Tuesday (July 15, 2025).

The Minister inaugurated a special camp under the scheme at a marriage hall in the Suramangalam zone on Tuesday. He inspected the camp and provided welfare assistance based on the petitions submitted . The Minister also interacted with the people who came to the camp and explained the government schemes to them.

Later, Minister Rajendran told reporters that 432 special camps, including 188 in urban areas and 264 in rural areas, will be conducted in Salem district. Along with this, medical camps will also be conducted. The petitions received in this camp will be addressed in 45 days.

The response is good, especially from women submitting petitions seeking Magalir Urimai Thogai. Already people’s grievances are being addressed through the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme, he said.

Denying the allegations made by former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami that the scheme will be used to collect mobile numbers of the voters for the DMK’s IT wing, the Minister said that there was no connection between this scheme and the political party.

District Collector R. Brindha Devi, Salem Corporation Mayor A. Ramachandran, MLAs R. Arul and S. Sathasivam, Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan and officials from departments concerned also participated.

In Namakkal district, District Collector Durgamoorthi inaugurated the Ungaludan Stalin scheme’s special camp at a community hall in Chinnamudalaipatti and distributed welfare assistance to the beneficiaries in the presence of Rajya Sabha member K.R.N. Rajeshkumar, MLA P. Ramalingam, and Corporation Mayor D. Kalanidhi.
