Two months have passed since the Mahila Court in Coimbatore delivered the judgement in the Pollachi sexual assault case, but the survivors are yet to receive the compensation awarded by the court.
The court in its judgement on May 13 had ordered a total compensation of ₹85 lakh for seven out of the eight survivors, who were examined before it as prosecution witnesses.

As per the verdict of the court, which sentenced all the nine accused in the case to life imprisonment, the compensation of ₹85 lakh has to be released to seven survivors, who were listed as A, B, C, D, E, G and H in the judgement to protect their identities.
The compensation for them are — A ₹2 lakh; B ₹15 lakh; C and D ₹10 lakh each; E ₹8 lakh; G ₹15 lakh; and H ₹25 lakh. One survivor, who has been identified as ‘F’ in case files, was not examined as prosecution witness as per the judgment order and was not awarded compensation.
The court had directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Coimbatore, to pay the compensation and tasked an inspector of the Central Bureau of Investigation and special sub-inspector of the All Women Police Station, Pollachi, to assist the survivors in the procedures by protecting their identities.
Sources in the know of the development said that the seven survivors received free copies of the judgement and they were produced before the DLSA where all required documents and bank account details were submitted. They added that the DLSA submitted the documents to the State Legal Services Authority as the total compensation involved a huge sum.
Meanwhile, the seven survivors received the compensation of ₹25 lakh each that was announced by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin after the verdict came. New bank accounts were created for the seven survivors and the amount was credited to their accounts within a week. Survivors produced the same bank accounts to the DLSA to receive the compensation awarded by the trial court, sources added.
