A four-year-old leopardess was found dead after getting ensnared in a trap laid most likely to catch wild game in the Kattabettu forest range near Kotagiri on Monday (July 14, 2025).

The forest department stated that the carcass of the dead leopard was spotted in Kannerimukku in Nedugula village in a piece of land belonging to K. Thangaraj, 62, a farmer. A post-mortem was conducted on the carcass, they said, adding that a case has been registered and that investigations are being conducted to identify the persons responsible.
