An anganwadi worker at Dadagapatti was on Friday suspended for burning nutritional tablets meant for distribution to students.
On July 9, a video showing the worker burning the tablets went viral on social media. Following this, the issue was taken up with the district administration, and the Project Officer of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) conducted an inquiry.
The worker, identified as Brindha, 48, told officials that the tablets were damaged by rats, which led her to dispose of them by burning. A report was submitted to the district administration, after which she was placed under suspension.
Notices were also issued to the supervisor and ICDS officer, seeking an explanation regarding the incident.
