The local courts on Friday granted bail to YSRCP leader Kakani Govardhan Reddy Krishnapatnam Port logistics and excessive gravel mining cases. However, his bail petitions in four other cases, including derogatory remarks on social media and illegal quartz mining, are still pending in the courts.
The Fourth Additional Court granted bail to Mr. Govardhan Reddy in connection with the case of illegal toll-gate at Krishnapatnam Port. Police arrested his two followers on charges of collecting money illegally from the trucks drivers.
Mr. Govardhan Reddy was also granted bail in a case registered by Venkatachalam police for forging the signature of Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy for mining gravel in Sarvepalle.
He is yet to be granted bail in some other cases. A case was filed against him for taking up the digging works at a farmhouse near Kanupuru Cheruvu for purposes other than farming.
The Muthukuru police registered a case against him on large-scale illegal mining and transportation of quartz from Rustum Mica Mines in Varadapuram village in Podalakur mandal in Nellore district. Apart from this, a case was filed against him under SC/ ST Atrocites Act based on the confessions from other accused.
Mr. Govardhan Reddy has been in Nellore Central Prison for the past 45 days. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials of Mangalagiri police station shifted him to Guntur for a few days in connection with the case of derogatory posts on social media against Sarvepalle MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.
Meanwhile, Mr. Govardhan Reddy’s daughter Kakani Poojitha claimed that the police had reopened a liquor case which was closed long ago. “Leaving the main accused, the police arrested my father. The PT warrants were issued against him. The NDA government is misusing power. This is nothing but political vendetta,” she alleged.
