Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V. Anitha inaugurated a CCTV Control Room at Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district on Thursday.

The Control Room will maintain a strict vigil on the stretch from Tandava Junction in Payakaraopeta to S. Rayavaram and Dharmavaram, on which 100 high-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed. The initiative was launched with the special funds of the Home Minister.

Ms. Anitha also flagged off 10 e-vehicles donated by Finvesco Capital India Limited. The police said that the vehicles would be allotted to the Shakthi teams.

The Home Minister said that the government is committed to checking crime and has taken measures to install CCTV cameras across the State.

“The crime rate in the State has decreased,” she said and appreciated the efficient performance of the police.

The government is taking all measures to curb the drug menace, she said and urged the youth to stay away from narcotics.

Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that the launch of the CCTV system would help improve traffic regulation, ensuring prevention of accidents and crimes on the NH-16.

The e-vehicles allotted to the Shakti teams will be instrumental in checking eve-teasing, ragging, ensure swift assistance to the victims through the 112 emergency response system, he said.

Additional SP L. Mohan Rao, Narsipatnam Sub-Division DSP P. Srinivasa Rao, and others were present.
