Egmore Police on Thursday arrested three persons, including two college students, for allegedly abducting a 30-year-old man over a monetary dispute.

Dineshkumar, 38, of Dindigul, and college students – Afsar Ali, 23 of Tiruchi and Vasanthakumar, 24 of Old Washermenpet – were arrested, based on a complaint from Moideen Gabbar, 56, a journalist.

On Wednesday evening, the accused went to Gabbar’s house on Siyali Street, Pudupet, and abducted his son Mohammed Rafeeq, 30, when the former was not at home. When Gabbar called his son on finding him missing, one of the suspects asked him to pay ₹2 lakh in return for his son, who, they alleged, owed them ₹1.2 lakh, according to the police.
