: An employee of Koduvai Panchayat in Tiruppur district was arrested on Wednesday by a team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption for taking ₹3000 from an applicant who had sought water supply connection.

Selvaraj (51) had demanded the money from Mahesh Prabu (44) of Sakthi Vinayagapuram, for processing the application.

Based on a complaint lodged by Mahesh Prabu, the DVAC police registered a case and effected the arrest of the panchayat secretary.

The DVAC team also reportedly seized ₹71,000 that could not be accounted for from the possession of Selvaraj.
