A total of 340 special camps — 165 in urban areas and 175 in rural areas — will be held under the ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ scheme in Erode district from July 15.
According to a release, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the scheme on July 15, following which the Minister for Housing, Prohibition and Excise, S. Muthusamy, will launch the scheme in the district. The camps will continue until November, covering all taluks. During the camps, 43 services from 13 government departments in urban areas and 46 services from 15 departments in rural areas will be provided. A total of 40 camps will be held in the Corporation limits, 41 in municipalities, 84 in town panchayats and 175 in village panchayats. Medical camps will also be conducted alongside these services.
The release added that 1,117 volunteers are currently visiting households to distribute forms containing information about the camp schedule, venue, and available services. Eligible beneficiaries under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme can attend the camps and submit their applications for the monthly financial aid.
On Wednesday, Mr. Muthusamy inspected the private marriage hall on Bhavani Road, the venue of the launch of the scheme.
