Netflix has released a new teaser for the second season of its live-action One Piece series, offering fans a slice-of-life look at the Straw Hat Pirates while hinting at a major reveal. The video, released ahead of the streaming platform’s TUDUM event on May 31, teases the introduction of fan-favorite character Tony Tony Chopper and promises more news soon.

The short clip reunites the main cast — Inaki Godoy (Luffy), Emily Rudd (Nami), Mackenyu (Zoro), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) — in a cozy slumber party scene aboard the Going Merry. As the crew bond through a slumber party, the teaser closes with animated hoofprints, signaling Chopper’s arrival in Season 2.

One Piece Season 2 is expected to cover key story arcs from the manga, beginning with Loguetown and continuing through Drum Island. The inclusion of the beloved anthropomorphic reindeer confirms that the adaptation will explore the Drum Island storyline in full, where characters like Dr. Kureha, Wapol, and Dr. Hiriluk play crucial roles.

The first season of One Piece, released on August 31, 2023, was a breakout hit for Netflix. It topped the English-language TV charts with over 18.5 million views in its debut week and earned praise for bringing Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga to life in live-action form. Despite the success, updates on Season 2 have been minimal until now.

Filming for the second season has reportedly wrapped, and over 20 new characters have been added, including Crocodile, Nico Robin, Vivi, and Tashigi. While a 2025 release was briefly mentioned online before being removed, the May 31 TUDUM event is expected to provide official details.

Showrunner Matt Owens recently announced his departure from the series, citing the demanding nature of the production and a need to focus on his well-being. His exit comes after overseeing the show’s critically acclaimed first season.

Returning cast members for Season 2 include Morgan Davies as Koby, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, and Vincent Regan as Vice Admiral Garp. Eiichiro Oda, the original creator, has expressed strong support for the new cast, calling them “perfect” for their roles.

Fans of One Piece can expect more concrete news during Netflix’s TUDUM showcase this weekend.
